Hand-foot-mouth disease caused virus EV71 under strict control

Web hay VietnamThe EV71 virus is the most dangerous virus complicating hand-foot-mouth disease.
Dr Nguyen Van Binh, Head of the Preventive Medicine Department under the Ministry of Health, says the southern area of the country accounts for 80 percent of the nearly 17,000 infections and around 90 percent of fatalities.
The Ministry of Health and epidemiologists are continuing to study and monitor the lethal virus closely and, because it is so dangerous, hand-foot-mouth disease is now being included in regular reports of infectious diseases.
The number of infections is expected to shoot up between August and November.
